Black Skimmer is a 30 ft Black Fin, powered by twin Yanmar 315 turbo-charged diesel engines. The Black Fin hull is one of the very best in the industry, well known for smooth rides and ocean going stability. Padded seating, that is mostly shaded, offers a nice area for relaxing and enjoying the view. Sea-dek, top of the line marine flooring, has been installed on the deck to provide maximum comfort while fishing. This is the only charter boat on HHI equipped with outriggers, which has the capabilities to add more lines in the water. Black Skimmer has a well-maintained inside salon to escape the weather and an on-board head (bathroom). The fly bridge has additional seating so you can see, first hand, what the captain sees.
The Name Black Skimmer
In addition to fishing, Captain Ben shares a passion for birds. The shorebird, black skimmer, is a long-winged bird with an efficient and masterful feeding habit. Black skimmers forage on small marine crustaceans by cutting the water surface with its long lower jaw, all while gliding a few inches above the water. Seeing a black skimmer in action is impressive!
